What to do before your Makeup Appointment

You don’t have to be the bride or the mother of the bride, you can simply be somebody that is going to an important event and just wants to look fabulous! Because I have this opportunity to help my clients to achieve their makeup goals, I strive to always do my best work. For this same reason before they come to their makeup appointment, I give them a few tips that not only help them but also help me get the results we both want. Here are my suggestions on what to do before your makeup appointment

Fill out your beauty questionnaire  📄

I prepare my kit differently for every client and I like to get the most out of our time together by making sure I have everything I need to bring their makeup vision to life. When they fill out the questionnaire, I can best prepare (or stock) my kit for their session and have a baseline idea of their beauty needs.

Remove Makeup

I can do that for you, but I like to save precious makeup time♡

Sometimes I get a client that didn’t remove her mascara properly before their makeup appointment. Removing your makeup and doing it right is a fundamental action to your skin health and the first step to cleanse your skin. Going to bed with makeup worsens dark circles, clogs your pores which causes breakouts, and the worst part, accentuates lines and wrinkles by drying out your skin. Don’t ever sleep in makeup!

Gently exfoliate your skin for better texture

This can be done one or two days before your makeup appointment. All the products that I use, liquids, creams and powders, will look so much better if your skin is exfoliated.

Clean brows and facial hair 72 hours (about 3 days) before your appointment.

Removing facial hair on the same day you are getting your makeup is not recommended because your brows or face could be irritated. I can cover your facial hair with concealer, but texture will always be there. Please do brows or facial hair maintenance 3 days prior.

Keep your lips hydrated

No matter what, I always apply a lip mask to all my clients because this is such an important detail too, but it’s even better if you are already bringing soft hydrated lips. There won’t be any problems if you choose to wear that long lasting matte lippy color.

Get a good night sleep…  (ᵕᴗ ᵕ⁎)🌙

I am just going to leave this here… 💧

One or two weeks before, if it’s not a habit please try to drink more water, it helps flush out toxins, gives you elasticity and it’s the best way to keep your skin hydrated. Coffee doesn’t count! Drink more water!
