Summer Glow Secrets for Brides

Hello my beautiful readers!

Who doesn’t love a little Vitamin D? Summer always gets me thinking about the best skincare advice for my brides who want to look radiant on their wedding day.

The sun is shining, the days are longer, and wedding season is in full swing. If you're getting married this summer, here are some of my favorite tips to help you achieve that healthy, glowing bridal skin.

1. Keep Your Skin Hydrated

Yes, it's hot outside, and yes, we're all sweating, but here's a common misconception: sweat is not a moisturizer!

While sweating helps cool your body down, as it evaporates it can actually pull moisture from your skin, leaving it dry and sometimes irritated.

For my oily-skin girls, listen closely: oily skin can still be dehydrated. When your skin lacks water, it often produces even more oil to compensate. The result? Skin that feels greasy on the surface but may also be flaky underneath.

One of my favorite ways to combat this is by using hydrating essences and toners packed with ingredients like ceramides and squalane. During the summer months, I also recommend switching to a lightweight gel moisturizer. These formulas provide hydration without feeling heavy or greasy.

The goal is simple: choose products that are lighter, less occlusive, and allow your skin to breathe while still keeping it nourished.

2. Wash Your Face Every Night

We all know that skipping face washing can lead to breakouts, but did you know it can also contribute to premature aging?

Throughout the day, your skin collects dirt, oil, sweat, makeup, and environmental pollutants. Air pollution is a major source of free radicals, which can accelerate skin damage and aging.

No matter how tired you are at the end of the day, take a few minutes to thoroughly cleanse your skin. Your future bridal glow will thank you!

3. Don't Forget Body Exfoliation

When brides think about skincare, they often focus only on their face. But remember: your shoulders, back, arms, and décolletage will likely be on display too.

Gentle body exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, smooth rough patches, and reveal brighter, softer skin underneath. Consistent exfoliation can make a big difference, especially if you're wearing a strapless or low-back gown.

Just don't overdo it. Gentle and consistent is always better than aggressive scrubbing.

4. Be Careful with SPF on Your Wedding Day

This one surprises a lot of brides.

I absolutely recommend wearing sunscreen every day leading up to your wedding. Protecting your skin from sun damage is non-negotiable.

However, on the wedding day itself, it's worth discussing your options with your makeup artist. Certain sunscreen ingredients, particularly zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, can create a white cast or flashback in professional photography.

Your makeup artist can help you choose products that photograph beautifully while still considering your skin's needs.

5. Schedule a Bridal Makeup Trial

A bridal trial is so much more than a makeup appointment—it's the roadmap for your wedding day look.

During your trial, my job is to listen to your vision and translate it into a look that makes you feel like the best version of yourself.

I take notes, photograph the final look, and ask lots of questions so I can customize every detail. By the time your wedding day arrives, we already know what works, what you love, and exactly how we're going to recreate your perfect bridal look.

A trial helps eliminate guesswork and gives you confidence going into your big day.

6. Book a Facial Early

If you're considering a professional facial before your wedding, sooner is better than later.

A facial can help improve hydration, texture, and overall skin appearance, but it's important to give your skin enough time to recover and respond to any treatments.

I generally recommend scheduling facials well in advance rather than trying something new right before the wedding. The last thing you want is unexpected irritation a few days before you walk down the aisle.

7. Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables

I know this isn't the most exciting skincare tip, but trust me—it makes a difference!

What you put into your body can show up on your skin. Fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and water that help support healthy, glowing skin from the inside out.

Try to include colorful fruits and vegetables in your daily meals. Foods rich in Vitamin C, such as berries, oranges, kiwi, and bell peppers, can help support collagen production, while leafy greens provide nutrients that help keep your skin looking fresh and healthy.

Think of it this way: skincare products work on the outside, but good nutrition helps nourish your skin from within. When you combine both, that's when the magic happens!

Your wedding day glow starts long before you sit in the makeup chair, and a healthy diet is one of the best investments you can make in your skin.

Beautiful Bridal Skin...

Beautiful bridal skin isn't about perfection—it's about healthy, well-cared-for skin that allows your natural glow to shine through.

Stay hydrated, keep your skincare routine consistent, protect your skin from the sun, and give yourself enough time to prepare. Most importantly, remember that confidence is always the best beauty product you can wear.

Wishing all my summer brides a wedding day filled with love, laughter, and the most gorgeous glow!
