Things Your Makeup Artist Wants You To Do Before Your Wedding Day ✧˖

There are a few things that your makeup artist really wants you to do to be fully prepared and look your absolute best.

·         Schedule a consultation with a Dermatologist or Esthetician 💡

If you haven’t done it ever, now is the time to do it. If you have a skin condition such as rosacea, acne or any other sensitivity a dermatologist will assess your skin and will customize a treatment for your skin needs.

It takes about 3 months to see the results of a skincare procedure, so I don’t recommend doing a procedure 2 weeks out because if you have swelling, or a bruise or any complications you don’t want to be dealing with this close to your wedding day.

Nine months out or more gives you enough time to see results.

If instead you don’t have a severe skin condition, scheduling a consultation with an esthetician is also a good choice. They help you with minor cosmetic skin care goals such as microdermabrasion, superficial chemical peels, facials and less invasive treatments.

·         Start a good skin care routine: 🤗

There are 3 things that are necessary for anybody that wants to have healthy skin:

1.       Cleanse your face because every day we are encountering pollution and dirt that fills our skin with impurities clogging our pores. You want to wash your face at least once a day, preferably before going to bed with a gentle face cleanser.

2.        Moisturizer ideal to your skin type

3.        Sunscreen with an SPF of 30- If you haven’t started wearing sunscreen you have to start now because this will prevent brown spots and protect you from UVA and UVB light. UVA is responsible for sun damage and ageing, UVB causes sunburn and both cause skin cancer, so protect yourself.

·         Have a Makeup Trial💄

I recommend a trial to all my brides, some brides can’t do it because they live abroad, others choose just to trust me but most like to have it! And this is why: Getting to know your makeup artist ahead of time is always a great idea, it’s important for you to see that they are the right vibe for you since they will be spending time with you a big portion of the morning.  In addition, at the makeup trial you get to experience your wedding makeup. Decide what you like and don’t like, and what you feel comfortable with. Express this to your makeup artist, it will give you piece of mind that on your big day your makeup will look great, and it will last.

·         For your Bridal Glow°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

Exfoliate (You can do this once a week depending on your type of skin)

At home you can gently exfoliate your face to remove the dead skin, that way helping the products that you are using at home deeply penetrate.

Dermaplaning is a light exfoliation that also removes vellus hair. If you have a lot of peach fuzz on your face this is a great treatment, and you can get it done better by a professional esthetician ( it doesn’t required downtime). Most people are a good candidate for dermaplaning especially if your skin is sensitive and can’t exfoliate with physical products. However, if you have active acne or any other skin condition this is not recommended.

·         Don’t drink too much alcohol the day before your wedding 🚫

Alcohol dehydrates your skin big time; I know it’s tempting but by not pacing yourself the day before it can prevent you from having a well-rested night. You don’t want to have tired looking eyes either. I always suggest my brides try to limit it to one glass and save the other ones for the real party! 😊

The night before…

Cleanse, moisturize and try to have a good night sleep if you can.

·         Wedding Morning ☀️

Have a nourishing breakfast you have a long day!

·         Have your Beauty Schedule or Timeline 🕘

Understanding how your beauty vendors will work the morning of your wedding is something that you should not overlook. Makeup artists prepare a timeline to keep every service allocated on time. Personally, I like to include 30 minutes of increment time to set up my station and clean up. Every vendor is different, and your beauty vendors are the ones that should create your beauty timeline. They are the only ones that know the amount of time it takes to complete your beauty service. Follow your beauty schedule to make sure that the getting ready process runs smoothly.

·         When Makeup is Done ❀₊✧⋆

If at any stage you need to touch or dry your face, do not drag or rub, just dab and your makeup will be fine.

Have fun and enjoy every minute! Congratulations! 🥂
