“Here’s What My Brides Never Have to Worry About on Their Wedding Day...” 💍✨

Hey gorgeous! -`♡´-

I hope this message finds you well and glowing—maybe even planning something spooky and glam for Halloween? 🎃 I can’t believe my favorite season is almost here… yep, the spooky one!

As I gear up for fall weddings and Halloween glam, I’ve been reflecting on some not-so-pretty but more scary habits I see way too often in the makeup artist industry. And trust me—these are the kind of habits that can hurt our clients and our businesses. Let’s talk about them.

1. Not Cleaning or Sanitizing Makeup Kits Between Clients

This is my #1 makeup artist pet peeve—and for good reason.
Clean tools are non-negotiable. Every brush and product in my kit gets cleaned and sanitized before touching a new face and things such as sponges are disposables! On a wedding day, this is even more crucial. My brides always get the peace of mind that every single brush has been cleaned just for them.

2. Using Expired Products

Outdated makeup isn't just less effective—it can actually be dangerous for your skin. Products lose potency over time and can grow bacteria. Gross!
I keep my kit sustainable and safe by only purchasing products I know I’ll use before they expire. Quality > quantity, always.

3. Over-Applying Makeup

More product doesn’t mean better results. Instead, I use high-quality, pigmented products that give a flawless finish without the cake-y layers.
Makeup should feel comfortable and enhance your features—not mask them. Whether my bride wants a natural glow or a bold glam, I apply products strategically, not excessively. One thing I never recommend? A thick, heavy foundation layer. It doesn’t feel good, and it definitely doesn’t photograph well.

4. Ignoring Client Feedback

Your opinion matters—especially on your wedding day!
That’s why I always give my brides time during their makeup trial to take a good look and tell me how they really feel. Want to tweak the lip color? Add more glow? Change the lashes? I’m here for it.
And if something can’t be adjusted right away, I make a note and make sure it’s exactly right on the big day. Your face, your vision.

💄 Final Thoughts

Every bride deserves a makeup artist who listens, cares, and never cuts corners. I take pride in keeping my kit clean, my skills sharp, and my clients happy—so on your wedding day, the only thing you need to worry about is saying “I do.” 💕
